Broward County Public Schools needs to stand up to the bully - Ronald DeSantis and follow CDC guidelines since this is a Public Health matter. Take DeSantis to court because he is guilty of child endangerment by preventing the CDC guidelines to take place in our Public schools.
The children have been out of school since March and you all had ample time to figure out how to get them back into school. Teachers are essential they should lose their jobs if they don’t want to do their jobs. Me calling the school saying my child is falling behind and the response was “I don’t know what to tell you”. I hope they don’t fund you since no one wants to do do their jobs you don’t need money. I don’t want to pay taxes to fund any systems that don’t serve me. What did you all do for 7 months? Why 7 months later are you all scrambling and more than half of children cannot return?? That’s ridiculous and you people dropped the ball and it’s safe to say you don’t care about these children you all should choose different careers.
The schools are doing a great job during this pandemic. It is very difficult to accommodate those who want their kids in and out of the school setting. Combined with quality elearning and allowing kids back in the classroom if the parents request it, they are serving the whole community.
A while back i went to coral springs charter. it is not what you think.. it is not a good school. it is full of rich, toxic, nicotine addicts. i got bullied and nothing was done about it. there were lies spread about me which lead to me being depressed. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL
Just bad the teachers will just sit there and lie you can get yelled like non stop and dont even do nothing like this time our ap told all of us to go to the media then our teacher ask where r we so we told where we was then we got sent to class she yelled at us saying that we lied and the ap was just standing there not doing noting hate that school
The people in the main headquarters can be real nasty. I would hate having to call up there for anything because they would sound like they do not want to take your call, be rude, give nasty attitude. Poor customer service from the people who you would think is there to help. Hopefully they improve that over time.
I am a Broward County Public Schools student. I am in middle school and tonight is our virtual open house. The Clever Login page wouldn’t let me login and everything was slow. It is very unacceptable. I am still trying to log in now! We may be a very large county but we should have a stable and secure login website as well as apps (Canvas, Microsoft Teams, etc.) when lots of people are trying to login. Every single student that I know has had this problem and teachers do too!! As a matter of fact they don’t deserve 1 star, they deserve non!! So for all of the school board members or techis for Broward County Public Schools, you should be out of a job if you haven’t been able to fix this yet!!! Fix this problem!!!
Needed to go get finger-printed so that I could volunteer as a Big Brother mentor. The process was quick and efficient and the security staff was quick and helpful to send me to correct room so that I could get it done. Paying for parking is as pain but in this area its understandable. However, if its just a really quick in-an-out I doubt you have to pay for $3 per hour parking.
I believe the superintendent is a very responsible and profesional, as well as the principals. I was amazed how schools moved fast to accommodate to virtual learning. I’m looking forward to see how my daughter is going to adapt to the new elearning system. Hopefully, during this hard time, the transition back to presencial will be as smooth as was the transition to virtual. The communication with parents through email, remind app, telephone calls, and text messages is A+. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because the communication in MS, and HS with teachers through personal meetings should be more accessible, and the high quality, challenging education should be in all levels as good as it is with the gifted and high achiever students. In overall BCPS is a very good school system with lots of opportunities for its students.Parent of CTE school and WBHS students.
Absolutely terrible school system. Keep your children out of it if possible. I was a student at Western High School suspended because a security guard was disrespectful to me after school hours while I was leaving the parking lot and trying to go home. I yelled through the fence off school property. The administrators dont care, and nothing is ever reviewed. School board policy was clearly broken and when i presented it to them they told me that they make the rules and they are going to suspend me anyway. They clearly violated Broward school board policy 5006 and nothing was done and i remained with a suspension. The administrators are there to do their job and go home and they have absolutely no regards what so ever for students. Absolutely horrible school system and everything is backwards.
Open the schools, everywhere people are getting back to work and school employees just arent. Distance learning was a joke, and will continue as long as teachers keep refusing the job theyre being paid to do. They should be ashamed, every other industry is opening and people are working. How about the doctors just start refusing to show up to work, or police officers, or emts?
I have been a student of this system and currently so have my children. I would say every district has its good and bad points, but there has been a decline in standards in Broward ESPECIALLY in the Urban areas. But the blame is not all on the school board. Each schools administration and the parent involvement also set the standards. There seems to be a shortage of teachers who really have teaching as a passion, and an a abundance of teachers who are just there for a paycheck until they get the real job they desire. There is lack of parent involvement in the urban schools (east of 441), and this will discourage teachers from putting forth quality efforts a lot of the time. I have discovered 2 of my children s teachers who who used YouTube to teach their classes. One was a commissioner in Miami who was working that job in the classroom while the children were self teaching via Khan videos. I had to switch my daughter because of this. There also seems to be a misappropriation of funds in the urban schools due to lack of oversight. PTAs lack ethics in the reporting of funds raised and at the high school level all the clubs or boosters dont seem to care about keeping proper financial record keeping. One principal doesnt not allow PTAs at her school because parent theft. All fundraising is done through the teachers and students. At the high school level it gets worse. The money asked for by parents is not always recorded by bookkeeping. At the elementary level, teachers are able to put gift cards on the student school list, but there is no accounting for the use of those gift cards. They should require parents to give the cards to bookkeeping so it can be recorded, and teachers provide receipts to show that teachers are spending money on actual school supplies and not on themselves. The only exception should be when the gift cards are teacher gifts. Then you have the fraud and theft at the district level over the years with disgruntled employees cashing retirement checks of dead employees and the other scandals that were reported in the news. Then the magnetic schools sometimes have to split the funding they get for 1 program to cover other areas of need. There should really be a better auditing system and accountability structure in place and enforced, especially since there is complaining about parent involvement and lack of funds.A large percentage of students who graduate are not college prepared. They have to take prerequisite courses to learn what they didnt learn through the school system. The only way this doesnt happen is when parents are involved with their childrens learning and supplement the areas that are not taught or addressed. There seems to be a lot of political involvement in these students education by the state. PALM BEACH COUNTY seems to be able to work around that. There are a lot of opportunities in Broward county, but you have to be an involved parent to gain access or else you will get BSd the majority of the time. You cant just drop your kids off and expect the schools to look out. They have quotas and legislation to keep up with. They are trying to save their jobs, not make sure your child is learning comprehensively. If you want the best for your child, go where the network and programs are and get involved. Hold admin and PTAs accountable by asking for financial statements.
MY CHILD STARTED SCHOOL AND ITS 20 MINUTES AWAY FROM MY HOME WHEN I REASSIGNED, ONE OF MY CHILD WAS PLACED AND THE OTHER ONE IN A WAIT POOL. I HAVE A TOTAL OF 3 KIDS AND NOW 3 DIFFRENT SCHOOLS TO GO TO AND I WORK ACORSS TOWN. I AM IN DISBELIEF THAT IN MIAMI IT WAS NOT SO BAD TO GET MY KIDS A EDUCATION, I CALLED THE SCHOOL BOARD THE SCHOOL COOUNSELER AND NOTHING. I AM LOST AT THIS POINT AND HOPE SOMEONE TAKES TIME TO FIX THIS ISSUE.
The supply of computers at northeast high school is absolutely terrible, I went to ask for a new computer because mine was not working and they said that the database was down and that they had no more computers to hand out to the students, the computer they gave me is super slow and has all sorts of problems.
The school board does nothing to help a parent or child that is being bullied. My kids where stab and followed home from school and when i brought it to the school attention nothing was done. My kids was always the blame and suspended from school. The teachers are allowed to say whatever they want to the students and then go lie and the kids are in trouble. Nothing is never reviewed or investigated right to get to the bottom of things. Its sad how these teachers get away with a lot of things. Bullying is a big problem in the schools and something needs to be done. Its to many kids being hurt or even killing them self because of bullying.
Those who sign up to be Broward County substitute teachers should be alerted that their phone # will continuously be bombarded 24/7 with robo-calls to work at schools - mostly those with high teacher absences and turn-overs due to the stressful atmosphere. The robo-calls are not only annoying but outrageous and there should be some Federal law that forbids any public schools from using this method of phone contact . The fact that the names of certain schools keep generating on the robo-call list shows that not even substitutes want to deal with the stress of working at those problem schools so they will not accept the assignment.
Tonight was the christmas performance at North Andrews Elementary and while my daughter was so excited to perform and was ready to go on stage, she stopped to help another student with her costume as no one else would help the other girl. The teacher then led all of the other students on stage without my daughter who was ready to go or the other girl she was helping. My daughter missed her performance and the only lesson she learned from the school for the Holidays was that only bad things can happen when you put others before yourself. Happy Holdays.
I want to share my experience from this morning (0ctober 28th, 2014) with other parents at Boward Estates Elementary School. After 4 hours in lockdown, I was able to enter the school and get my son without any proof of identification. The Board should think about that...I cant beleive it and never imagine that would be possible in this largest and developped country!
A 11 years old named Ethan from 5 grade from silver ridge elementary school 3 older than my son assaulted him in the bus with a objet. Thursday afternoon. The result I had to take my son to the hospital and the driver didn’t do anything about it. I want everybody knows

2022-01-30Fine example of the corrupt government controlling the people for political reasons at the core. They are lead by unqualified people that are placed there to follow the politicians desires, and protected by the corrupt courts. It is the first step to ruining your children and they do all they can to hold you captive. If you try to speak up they place paid activists into your cause and use the courts to shut you up. I left there years ago after fighting them for my children. I still have grandchildren left there and now watch my daughter getting abused. Not good. Wake up people.

2021-10-28Can’t imagine places like this allowed to raise children on public funding. They need to become a private school. Their idea of education is ideology and this institution should absolutely be shut down. Pulling kids from schools and teaching homeschool is the only option for me in scenarios dealing with schools like this. Egregious.

2021-12-06There is a major service gap for transportation from school to daycares and it is putting many families at risk there needs to be a committee made for this sole purpose to help the many families effected by this transportation service gap. this service gap can have a massive butterfly effect on the already struggling families through out Broward county. i have been trying to get census information as to how many families are currently effected by this gap and no one has helped me thus far.this is creating a greater risk Broward families to suffer job loss, inability to obtain jobs, financial instability and finally HOMELESSNESS. no one thus far has gotten on board to vie for a change and i have spoken with so many in this infrastructure thus far and i hear the same complaints are coming from so many parents, but no one is doing anything to change this... we need SUSTAINABILITY!!!

2021-10-14Corrupt. Rules don’t seem to apply to the elite as seen in the photo. They also just fired the teacher who posted the evidence below. He happens to be running against the superintendent for US state senate and broward county refuses to tell him why he was terminated...but I think we all know why...someone can’t handle the competition and she knows she’s not very popular as we saw this week.

We all know the person they are trying to give your job too, he is not the same color as you. They have been trying to remove you for years. Just know God sit high an look low. Be encourage🙏

2021-10-12Defend your public schools. Rich people are trying to pull out the ladder out from under. Reject that, and stand up for your public schools.

2020-08-17Not opening schools is a complete joke. How are my wife and I (both essential) supposed to sit there and help our 4 year old navigate MS teams when we ourselves will be working. What purpose does the school play in the equation if I could certainly teach my son if I need to sit there with him for the duration of his lessons anyway? We prefer a school setting over home school for the social skills that are developed.
