For a Dr. in this field you would expect them to be more considerate of their patients health. They canceled my appointment without informing me, I took the afternoon off of work and drove an hour to just find out they cannot see me. My appointment was in place for over a month. They rescheduled me. 4 weeks later. As I go to attend my appointment they say they booked someone else for my time and asked for me to come in 3.5 hours earlier and they will squeeze me in. I work an hour away and 70 hours a week. It was awful. As for someone with severe mental health. They are going to potentially cost someone their health or even their life.Dont get me started on prescriptions. Always fill them days before you need them. The request from the pharmacy for a fill takes this office days if not longer to respond.
Doctor Gonzales is very knowledgeable and will work with you to find the right medication. Joanne is one of the best therapists I’ve used and the rest of the staff is friendly and helpful. 5 stars. Recommended.
It took 3-4 weeks for an appointment. That is understandable. What i don’t understand is him referring her away and saying she only needs counseling. I’m a ley person in the field of mental health but I know my daughter is dipolar 1 in a manic episode. The US is in a mental health crisis. I never fully understood it until now. Dr. Gonzalez-Camal you suck.
If you want to see a psychiatrist that is willing to help you, choose another office. This guy is obviously more concerned about his vacation than actually helping people. Get referred by your pcp to see him to help you figure out why the meds he prescribed no longer work? Too bad. He will send you away to go see someone else.
Very well managed office. Easy to reschedule if nessery. They will call in refills if needed, or you can pick them up at the office.
Terrible doctor took my first payment of 275 and Sami and then three weeks later I get a letter in the mail with no explanation saying he will no longer see me he is a rip-off he just wants to take your money and cancel terrible doctor I would not recommend anybody ever go to him he takes your money and then cancel before your second visit even if he has to make something up do not go see this doctor!!!!!
Hes a great doctor and Ive never had an issue with him.

2022-03-08Only seen Dr. Gonzalez-Canal for the first time on March 7, 2022 but i beleive hes gonna be a great Dr. From the original treatment he has started me on. Because i have been suffering since 2020 while seeing my previous psychiatrist without the appropiate treatment. Thank you Dr. Gonzalez! I think your services will work out well and you will be the great Dr. as most of your reviews say you are! Also the staff is very pleasant and willing to help with any questions or concerns!

2021-05-08I have been a patient of Dr. G-Canal for about 6 or 7 years now. He has never disappointed me and is one of the very few physicians in the area that will. Come to the hospital personally in order to see you, if necessary.Dr G-Canal’s personality is calm and reassuring, do not waste your time if all you want is a script of Opioids, he doesn’t believe in them.I have have a very bad case of PTSD and anxiety disorder a complex grief phenomenon.and survivals guilt, I am a retired Nationally/Registered LEO instructor, Nationally certified Paramedic Instructor and FAA licensed helicopter pilot/flight medic from the Washington, DC, Baltimore, New York corridor.If you choose or need a good Psychiatrist in the Port Charlotte area then think about Dr. Gonzales-Canal

2021-03-10I was a patient of Dr. Kapuchinskis for 15 years. When he retired I was afraid that I wouldnt be able to find another Dr. that was as good a fit for me as Dr. K was. I have been in the healthcare field for almost 30 years. I know a good physician when I meet them. I visited Dr. Gonzalez and had a very positive experience. He listened to my issues and was able to understand my needs instantly. I will return to him as a regular patient and I can highly recommend him to anyone.

2019-03-18I can’t understand why Dr. Gonzalez has any negative reviews. I have been fortunate to get him to care for me. I’m not easy to treat. And he cares and listens to me. I can only assume that drug seekers not getting their meds are posting negatively. I think his office is the most comfortable environment. And, I never sit forgotten in the waiting area. He is always on time. His staff are very nice and there are great counselors too.I don’t wish poor mental health on anyone. But if you need treatment for it, please call Psychatric Associates of Charlotte County. Dr. Gonzalez is a wonderful psychiatrist.

2020-08-04Most excellent provider I have seen. Listens and actually hears you when you speak. He is a very proficient, capable professional, and he involves you in your own treatment. I switched to Dr Gonzalez because the VA is inept and negligent. Now, for the first time in 10 years I have my life back.

2020-03-18I am not an easy patient to treat. I am a 27 year old widowed single mother of our 5 year old daughter and unfortunately, I was the one with my husband during a tragic accident in which he passed away. I was not able to save his life- I actually performed CPR and mouth to mouth resuscitation with the 911 operator on the phone counting with me in unison until the ambulance arrived. He died in my arms. I have an extreme case of depression, but PTSD and my anxiety is even worse. I have spent the last few years trying to heal in every way possible but in this addiction-epidemic time happening it is hard to find the right doctor to spend more than 10 minutes on me without giving me more anti-depression medications and sending me on my way. The panic attacks started making me vomit all the time and I experienced Gastrointestinal issues for a time before I moved here to Florida.I went in to see Dr. Gonzales and my experience was top notch. I didn’t have to wait long, he came to get me from the waiting room himself and he had me sit in his office and tell him my story. He generally cared about my situation as a young mother and treated not just the depression but my PTSD and anxiety without the judgement that I’m too complicated and in the past few months I’ve finally felt RELIEF. I have been more stable now than I have at all since my husbands death. I’m able to see my therapist without having irrational racing thoughts that prevent me to progress in mental stabilization, and I have had an abrupt hault in hospital visits from panic attacks, (body spasming night terrors which he also treats me for) and no more constant nausea from my overwhelming stress. I don’t have to live with a mask on anymore. When I come home from work to greet my baby girl, I can smile at her and it’s real. I’m sleeping better, my TMJ is better, I feel like me again and I am so grateful for doctors like Dr. Gonzalez. The money was worth it and my life is improving in so many ways I could go on but I’m sure I’ve given the picture. my diagnosis was almost crippling but not anymore. I highly recommend him for mental health treatment. Great staff and a great Doctor. He believed in my strength even when I didn’t, and we need more healthcare professionals like him!!

2021-05-26The staff is very nice. Although, this man hasnt helped me at all. He put me on medication I said didnt work anymore. I wont be coming back. He cares more about his money than his patients obviously.

2017-03-16Ive gone to this Doctor to get my scripts for medications Ive been on for years. I recently ran out of medication and attempted to refill through my pharmacy. I was told that there were no more refills authorized and they would contact the doctor for authorization. 3 days had gone by and the script still had not been filled. It was saturday so I called the doctors office and got his service. I explained my situation and that I was without medication for 3 days and the withdrawal was a horrible nightmare as the Doctor is fully aware. I never got a call back from the doctor and had to wait until Monday to call the office. As of 11am Monday morning I still had not been contacted. I left another message on his voicemail at that time. By 2PM or so I still hadnt received a call back. I tried calling again and finally did get a person. I explained to them the above and questioned why I wasnt contacted. My question was not met with an apology, but a cavalier attitude towards my situation. I blew up at this person and told him exactly what I thought of their practice. There is no concern for my mental health, only the money that can be made on visits. I would not recommend going there to anyone. This Doctor is well aware of the horrific side effects you get when you stop abruptly and could not have cared less.

2019-02-04I’ve been going to Dr. Gonzalez for about 2 years now and I am very pleased with my experiences. The office is very orderly and the staff is super friendly. I feel comfortable and welcomed with every visit. Dr. Gonzalez is professional and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Psychiatric Associates of Charlotte County.
