Excellent Auction Service. All members of the Great Expectations team are friendly and helpful as they conduct an auction. From start to finish they are organized and handle every detail well. You can expect to have help loading and even during the auction they make every attempt to identify item source, etc. You will not be disappointed if you attend one of their auctions and they set the bar high for other auctions services to emulate.
I’m a “tell it like it is” reviewer. Good or bad, you’ll always get an honest opinion from me. Well, I gotta tell ya what AWESOME transactions I have had over a period of 10+ years with Great Expectations Auctions. Through DOZENS of dealings, both buying and selling, I have never had a single bad experience. I HIGHLY recommend them. I’d give them a 10-star review if I could.
Based on other reviews, maybe I just showed up to the wrong sale. Woodworking clamps priced above retail Garden hoses price way above retail. Heavily used Workmate 85s for $40 each. Seriously? A comparable Workmate at HD is less than $30. Teak benches that have been terribly misidentified. Marginal discounts on power tools but nothing near where they should be priced for well used equipment. There were some decent deals on exercise equipment and housewares but I had much greater expectations. Definitely not worth the time for day one of the sale.
Great Expectation should be called “Beyond Expectations”. Not only did Jenna and crew knock our Estate Sale out of the park, but they got us more than we ever imagined for our stuff. The whole process was painless, fun, and left our family feeling like we had sold our goods, but gained some amazing friends along the way.
Went to the Belmont Rd. estate sale in St. Johns last Thursday to find the prices for tools and equipment near or above retail. Wasted trip. Came back first thing in the morning on Saturday to pick up a couple of clamps and they were selling an entire table and peg board of tools for $75.00, that would have cost several hundreds of dollars on Thursday. You would think they would give buyers an opportunity to purchase items individually at the start of the sale as opposed to selling off everything in bulk first thing in the morning. Another wasted trip. *The response from the owner below is a lie. I too was there at 9am on Saturday and it was shortly after that you sold the items in bulk but just so Im clear, if I buy a couple of things on Thursday and Friday, youll give me preferential treatment on Saturday if I want to buy in bulk?
Absoutley the best Auction House we have been to. The staff is friendly and helpful and Jenna, Alan & Jeremy keep it moving plus add some humor to the mix.Some great deals can be found and the high end auctions are amazing.
The owner is amazing ! We hired the company to come out for an estate sale ended up listing with her and sold in just weeks !! So smooth and easy . When I tell you I wish I had more to sell just to do business with them Im not Lying !! Fantastic people!
I have delivered many items to this auction and Im always surprised with the great totals. Jenna and her staff are Top Notch!

2021-08-19Attended the estate sale in St Augustine. We are in the middle of a pandemic, and they have everyone gather in front of the front door for checkout. You can not get in or out of the house without coming into close contact with multiple people waiting in line. They are waiting in line because only 25% of the merchandise is priced. To get items priced you must stand at the register while she/owner gives out prices, which most are ridiculous. And if you know the price on something why not price it? Is this not the estate sale companies main job to price things for their clients?

2020-07-10Jena and her team of professionals lead an amazing estate sale and auction. I went to their estate sale on Miramar Avenue in Jacksonville today, and they were very well organized and extremely cordial and fair. I ended up purchasing several well-priced items, that were fair for me and the consignor. Prior to attending the sale, I checked out Great Expectations and their experience. The owner of the company had a vast knowledge of property value, including a multifaceted expertise in personal property and real property.We showed up almost an hour early because there are some companies that will feed good deals to early birds, and begin early. Although it mightve benefited me, I was happy to see that they began at the scheduled time, right on the money, and treated everyone with the utmost gratitude and respect.My wife and I are excited to attend their estate sale next weekend, and will be visiting more Great Expectations estate sales in Jacksonville and St Augustine in the future!!

2021-03-13This past year has been very difficult. Jena and her team guided us through the whole process of selling moms belongings and home . We were so happy that we chose Great Expectations. We would highly recommend them !

2018-05-28Ive been attending Great Expectation auctions since they began. As a faithful regular when they were located in St Augustine, I can attest to their dedication to running a fair, decent auction and providing their customers with help wherever possible. Theyre also fabulous with estate sales and auctions, and have been very helpful to Realtors whos customers may need help with selling off their furnishings and personal belongings. My only complaint is that theyve moved to Jacksonville, making it difficult for me to attend their Saturday auctions. They sure are fun, and I always came home with something interesting and/or useful.

2018-05-28Wish you could give more than 5 stars.Our family moved to Jacksonville last year and we needed just about everything for the house. We have furnished every room and every wall with awesome items. All from the auction at a fraction of the price you get in a retail store.Was very impressed with the level integrity and character that they have.Staff is always friendly and willing to help.Jenna, Alan and Jeremy keep the flow going and make it fun.Great Expectations Auction you rock.

2018-07-09Have known Jenna and Allen for many years and have had many purchases at their auctions and estate sales. Have found their events and sales always professional and efficiently handled. They have always answered our questions and concerns quickly and to our satisfaction. Highly recommend their services as a buyer or seller, not to mention they are just great, great people. My wife and I consider ourselves blessed to know them.

2019-06-05Great Expectations Auction house is the best in Jacksonville. They are family owned & operated; honest; very organized & everyone that works their is very friendly helpful. If youve never been to an auction before, GEA will welcome you and show you the ropes! Highly recommend!

I recommended GE to my sellers and remain very proud to do so. I am truly sorry that you felt wrongly accused of something-really I am. Certainly, you can understand how hard it is for Jena and her staff to host and monitor these events, especially when the home is full of items, both large and small. These items belong to the owners and GE has a responsibility to watch over everything in the home. Thats the reason there is a sign asking that bags and purses be kept in your car and why they post that they reserve the right to check any bag brought inside.You chose to bring your bag in.Jena is a woman of strong character. She is loved and respected by our community because of who she is. I am most surprised by your accusation that you were targeted because of your race...Jena hires people of color and some were working at that very estate sale. Nancy, Im so sorry that you felt you were wronged. I am really am. But, its just as wrong for you to assail Jena Baker-Denniss character. Im also sorry that you feel the need to spread unkindness. In our current world, thats the last thing we need. I will continue to refer my clients to Jena and many, many, many people will continue to enjoy her estate sales-no matter what color.
