We rented the SeaPro from Monroe and it was a super chill experience. We took the boat to Cayo Costa (hiking and beaches), Captiva Island for lunch (we recommend the Bubble Room!) and then just bumbled around. The staff was relaxed but clearly knew their stuff, the boat worked perfectly and we had a great time on the water. All the pricing was super upfront so that was nice - we would 100% rent from them again. If you have never rented a boat before you will be pleased with this experience 👍🏻
Pulled right into a slip, went into the store and paid $5 and received a $5 coupon for the restaurant Phuzzys. The marina store was nicely supplied from beer, wine, anything that you would need for fishing. Sunglasses, sunscreen, salsa and seasoning. Clean and very friendly store and service.
We rented a deck boat yesterday and had the best time! The staff was very helpful and explained everything we need to know to have a delightful day! Even as busy as they were I did not feel slighted or un noticed. A very well organized office and ship store. The deck boat we rented lived up to our expectations and then some. The boat was very clean and looked well maintained Plenty of horsepower! All in all a very delightful day and was made so by a great staff and facility! Keep up the good work!
Subpar equipment! My friends and I rented a boat for a full week. The first day... the trolling motor stopped working. Apparently, it shorted out! Took it back to the Marina to be repaired. No issues! The second day... we noticed the power pole was coming loose. As it turns out, it was only connected with two small bolts, and had apparently been semi-repaired before (as the holes were wallowed out... and had been filled with some sort of caulk or sealant). Although we were allowed to trade out boats - the second one had no power pole, and the trolling motor was not charged at all. As if that werent enough, the steering had so much play in it that you had to constantly turn it to the left just to keep it running straight. My friends and I lost close to a full day of our fishing trip dealing with boat defects. As we were checking out, we asked if we would be credited for the days that we did not have access to a trolling motor or power pole (since both have additional charges). The manager falsely claimed that we were the ones who damaged the power pole. She then went on to say that if a boat was in a renters possession when something broke (even though it may have been severely worn before) that it was the renters responsibility to pay for the repairs. Rather than doing the right thing, and refunding the rental fee for the days we lost without a trolling motor and power pole... all they would do was to call it even. I seriously doubt that me nor any of my friends will ever rent from this company again. They are not nearly as professional or reputable as the companies we are used to dealing with.
Monroe Canal Marina staff made unprofessional comments about our group when they did not realize we could hear. We lost valuable fishing time due to reoccurring boat issues. We were without equipment we paid for and the Staff wanted to compensate us for lost time by charging us for repairs that we did not cause and saying we are even. Totally unacceptable! Look else where for your boat rental needs when you visit this beautiful area.
Loved the area and the fishing was fantastic. We rented a boat for the week with a fishing package and had to return for repairs due to an electrical issue with the trolling motor. A tech made the necessary repairs to get us back on the water; however the staff was less than friendly. We had to return the next day due to loose & missing bolts connecting the powerpole. The staff traded us out for another boat.By this time we had lost a half day fishing and on the way back out the deck hand informed us the trolling motor was dead and would need to be charged before we could use it. We spent the remainder of the day with no trolling . By the time we returned to change back out for the first boat we had lost even more time on the water. At the end of the week we turned the boat in clean and in a timely manner. The desk clerk informed us that we would be charged for the powerpole repairs that we did not cause. Not a good experience at Monroe Canal Marina.
Chris and his team are AWESOME! 5-star customer service and experience. We rented the 23 foot hurricane deck boat and it was in excellent condition. My wife and I are visiting from Virginia and rented last week from them, and are doing so again this week! Also the best prices you will find for boat rental. Check out Cabbage Key Island for lunch if you end up renting -- available only by boat! I second others who have said a night time option for the rental would be really great. Wed love to do a sunset cruise type thing, but still a 5-star experience :)
I was at the Monroe Canal Marina this weekend a few times for bait as well as launching my boat. The staff were incredibly helpful and very pleasant to deal with. Dealt with a few different people and they were all awesome, Thank you!As a first timer in the area they shared helpful tips for fishing and navigating the Pine Island Sound.Upon arriving back to the ramp this Saturday we encountered a major thunderstorm. The Marina staff graciously helped me trailer my boat and get me safely on my way. That is immensely appreciated. Not enough good things I can say about the Marina staff.Thank you!
First time in St James city was spectacular. The marina was very convenient and the staff were very helpful and friendly. They gave us great suggestions for food and activities. If you are looking for a very easy and hassle free boating experience, give them a try because our experience was above par compared to other boat rental places. Thanks again guys!
Vacationed on Pine island for the first time and rented a family deck boat from here. These guys were amazing. Not only did I get a family safe and quality boat, but when I told them I didnt have any idea where we were heading and not familiar with the water ways. They took the time to map out a safe course, explained everything I needed to know to safely get to a quality destination for my family to relax on the beach for a day, gave me a chart map to use for the day. If that wasnt enough, When I didnt get the boat back in time, they called to check if I was ok, waited an hour for my return and didnt charge me extra.....who does that? What a friendly group of wonderful, helpful people. Loved the experience and the fact that my familys safety was important to them. Highly recommend this company!
Rented our second boat from Monroe this past Friday. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. If you are a first time boater or an expert, you need to see these folks. Bait, tackle shop and all the ice you need. The boats are well equiped and can meet any demands. Will be back very soon. Thank you for the awesome marina and service. You always make our trips memorable.
I rented a boat for the day. The staff was very kind and informative. The marina is well appointed with reasonable rates and very nice vessels.I had a mishap during my rental and did some damage to the boat. Upon my return I informed them of the damage. I was promptly provided an estimate for repair and feel that it was spot on and not inflated or overpriced.Nathan checked me out and did my return and has a true professional manner. I never felt rushed, hurried or confused. I highly recommend them for your boating / fishing needs. Thank you for all the great customer service Monroe Canal Marina!!!
I have rented boats from Monroe Canal many times. The boats are in great shape, they are very informative about the boats, go over all the details and then let you do your thing. There are no restrictions on where you can go (unlike some other rentals places in the area), although you are responsible for any damage of course. The staff is super pleasant and easy to deal with. Ive never had anything less than a great experience at MCM, highly recommend. The only suggestion I would make is try to get a boat for a few days, or at least overnight. Otherwise, a daily rental is out by 8:00 am and in by I believe it is 4:30 pm. Much more time on the water if you keep it for a couple days of more!! (obviously need a place to keep it overnight). Love this place!
We rented a boat for the entire weekend to take out with us to Cabbage Key. The staff at Monroe Canal were very helpful and friendly and the Hurricane Deck boat was in great shape and exactly what we needed. Had a great weekend popping around to the different islands to float and do some fishing.
AMAZING!! These guys were absolutely the best. From our first call to inquire about a boat rental KB &Nathan were phenomenal. They were courteous, professional, extremely helpful and their customer service was above and beyond. We rented a boat thanksgiving week to go out with family. The boat was clean, in great shape and very comfortable. Nathan & KB made the experience easy and fun. They always had a smile and great advice. We have rented from other places before but our experience with monroe canal marina was definitely the best. If your looking to rent a great boat, that comes with exceptional customer service, and is in the perfect location to reach some of the best beaches in the area rent at Monroe canal marina. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you KB and Nathan. Your both amazing. Our family just fell in love with you guys and our experience.
When reserving a boat from this location I was not informed that the Carolina skiff had what they called a tiller motor. I called back 2 hours later to change my reservation to 12 until 4pm . So I arrived the following day at 11:30am and as we walked in the door, a young guy behind the counter had a attitude right from the get go. I told him we had a reservation and he started yelling at me that he figured we weren’t showing up due to our rental was at 8am. I tried to explain to him that we had called back and changed to to noon. The young man didn’t care and kept yelling at me and even acted as if he wanted to fight. I looked at my fiancé and said we are not going to be treated like this and are not renting from a company that treats customers like this and did walk out of the store. I will never go to this marina again and do not recommend them.My review has nothing to do with the boat, I was going to gladly rent the boat even with the confusion of it being just a little row boat was a small tiller motor. My issue was the treatment of a store employee while trying to rent it. Instead of yelling at a customer he could have checked to see if the time was changed and continued to rent out the boat. But no customer should be treated like that. I am a retired police officer and have never been treated like that. I would suggest the owner to put cameras in the area of the counter to see customer service and have it corrected. We are locals here and rent boats a lot. And reputation does spread quick.
We rented a 23 Hurricane for half day. Nice boat. Ran well. But when docking upon our return, the dock hand directed us first to the floating dock and then changed. Result, we brushed the bumper on the floating dock. He claimed that we scraped the boat. There was no crack, no scrape, just a very small mark that could be easily buffed out in a few minutes. They charged us an additional $150 for that. I checked with other experienced boaters in the area, who agreed that this was an excessive charge. Also, it is surprising to read the other reviews about how courteous and friendly the dock guys were. That was not our experience at all. In fact, the guy that showed us the boat first was almost surly. Very unpleasant and rude. We wont be back.
Very helpful and efficient teamNathan and another gentleman checked us in. Nathan ran through the boat into with us and gave us extra tips about the local water, food stops, and safety. He went above the normal and expected. On return, the other guys helped us out. He helps us tie up, gas up, and unload. He was quick and efficient and friendly. It can take plenty of time to check in and check out and these guys took care of it as fast as was possible.Great experience. We are renting again in a few days and will rent on future trips.
This company was great. The employees were very helpful and worked hard to make sure that we enjoyed our rental boat. Everything was straightforward and pricing was better than most other companies. We had a great family experience enjoying the water and nearby islands and beaches. We are very happy with this company and recommend them.
This Pine Island Marina & store was a complete terrific surprise to find in St James City. When you walk in, its first in your face how organized and immaculately clean it is, no odor at all, in fact its actually smells great. How many marina stores or tackle ships can say that, like none!!!Terrific supportive gear and just about everything a boater or fisherman needs when on the road from afar, or the regulars all year long. And the prices were so normal and regular, ice the same price as the Winn Dixie a few miles up the street. Excellent, knowledgeable owners and staff, took time to explain their boat rentals and local guides if desired. They sure have my future business when Im here, and if I needed something that had to be ordered anyway, I can see going out of my way to order it through them just to give this independent marina and store some extra business over time.Alot of work and maintenance goes into keeping everything spiffy and spicy and span, so lets appreciate it with your business.PS, no, Im not related to them, just was impressed.
We rented a 23 boat yesterday for 6 ppl. Started our day in very foggy conditions, the gps worked perfectly to gets us down the main channel in thick fog. Fog lifted by 10am. Staff was informative and really helpful. Purchased live shimp for bait there at a good price. Everyone had a blast! Great location to get out on the water quickly. We will definitely rent there again soon.
We rented 2 deck boats for a family outing and had a great time. Very reasonably priced, great local Pine Island service and super helpful getting us in and out of our boats. The full day rental was perfect for our beach day to Sanibel and Captiva. Boats were clean and ran perfectly. We’ll definitely be back!
We rented a boat twice this weekend. The boats were well kept and very nice, almost new condition. Large screen GPS makes navigating simple even for a first timer. The staff was friendly and informative. Rental prices are fair especially if renting for a week. I would definitely recommend
Greg. (5/9/21)I rented the 22 ft from you and was just so happy with it! I had the boat for a full week, and my wife and I caught lots of fish including snook an cobia. The boats motor ran like a dream.. Started immediately and got us into some skinny water. I had some questions during the rental and when I called your staff they were all answered satisfactorily .Your delivery and pick up went smoothly. When next time in your area, will definitely rent from Monroe Canal Marina.Arthur Warren ( Englewood New Jersey)
Rented deck boat for three days. Boat was in good shape and provided plenty of opportunities for fishing and fun. Small love well worked better than I thought it would. Staff at marina is very helpful. Jesse provided excellent service. Marina shop is actually quite well stocked with supplies and prices are pretty good. Not your usual “marina 100% above retail pricing”. No need to venture anywhere else on Pine Island, Monroe Canal Marina is all you need.
My family and I rented a 21 Sea Pro to do some fishing while on our vacation. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and were quick to answer any questions and concerns we had. The boat was great. Well maintained and performed amazing. Great job guys! See you next year.
Love this place!! Rented the 22 Pathfinder for a week while we vacationed at the Tarpon Lodge and Cabbage Key. The ride up to Tarpon Lodge from Monroe Canal is absolutely gorgeous and very easy to navigate. We had a slip at Tarpon Lodge and when moved over to Cabbage Key our cottage had its own dock so having the Pathfinder for the week was awesome. The service at Monroe Canal Marina is hands down the best I have ever experienced and they made our vacation one to remember. My wife actually said it was the best vacation ever and we travel frequently. We fished and explored every day. The shallow draft of this boat was great for fishing the skinny water of Pine Island Sound. The other marinas rented deep V hulls which were more expensive and not as versitile. I highly recommend using Monroe Canal Marina if you stay at Cabbage Key or Tarpon Lodge. You will thank me I promise.
The owners and staff at Monroe Canal Marina are awesome. I have rented deck boats from them when I have more guests than I can safely take on my boat. Their rental prices are better than some of the others that rent here in the area. I will continue to rent from them.
This is a great launching place, when you want to be as about as close to the Sanibel Islands and the Gulf as you can be without driving over to the island. I use the 6th launch is free card. The ramp is $10 like everywhere else and the drive out is nice. Also not too long of an idle out, there is also a couple restaurants you can pull up to by boat or car before you get out to the wide open.
This place is fantastic. Jesse and JW were great. I own a marina and take it from me this is the place to go in Pine Island. I rented a great boat and these guys made sure me and my family had a great day. I dont get many days off so when I do its nice to come to a place like this. Thanks guys!!!!
This place has it all, one stop shopping and the people are great! The employees treat you like family and are always eager to answer an questions you have. I rented a boat and it was a beautiful experience, they walked me through directions to ensure that I was comfortable. I would highly recommend this Marina to anyone looking for their very own Island Experience.
Unacceptable behavior of the people of Monroe Canal Marina. We rented a boat. They came to pick up the boat at night, with my personal belongings and those of my children on it, as they needed the boat for another client. They then arbitrarily charged my credit card afterwards. I was able to recover only a part of my personal belongings and I was charged with large and undue sums on my credit card. I will come back to this beautiful region but never again will I be dealing with these dishonest people.
Great staff, nice location and shop inside! Had beer, sun block, fishing goods and more! Affordable pricing and knowledgeable staff who was honest about moving our original windy date a few days later so we can really enjoy our time. I love the honesty and had a very nice time, thank you!
This is not the place to go if you need service on your boat or if you have a problem because they dont stand behind there work and when they cant figure out the problem they tell you that your business is no longer welcomed!! I took my boat to them three diff times for the same problem for a total of 400 dollars and not once did they fix it! I had to go straight to the company and they replaced the unit and it works great now!! Lesson learned never deal with people who are to busy to answer questions that there employees dont have the knowledge to answer or the pricing so only the owners who time is way to valuable to talk to you!
Growing up in Southwest Florida I have been subject to many Marinas and this one by far is my favorite. Its not fancy shmancy , Monroe Canal Marina captures the true essence of island living. It doesnt matter if you come in every day for their killer shrimp prices or youre a part timer that just launches and pulls out at the end of season. Your a friend and they Make you feel as so. This place offers more than most can imagine from marine services and repair, custom install and rigging, bait, island apparel, storage, boat rentals and so much more.. Like the only ATM in St. James city and cold beer !
Despite my star rating I have to say that I really did like this Marina. Its not as busy and only had to wait for one other boat ahead of us. I had to remove 2 stars for a long idle to get out to channel and scraping the bottom of my bunk brackets on the ramp cement (on low tide). First time that has happened at any ramp.
Here you have a full service Marina with a boat ramp,Fuel a well represented inventory of fishing tackle & accessories nice representation of comfortable fishing clothing as well there doing it right here for sure good management team in place & the staff is helpful as well
We used this marina prior to COVID to drop our boat and having since sold it we decided to rent one for our summer vacation and so glad we did. I can not tell you how fantastic this marina is!!!! All the staffers are super friendly and helpful. We experienced zero issues with our rental, visited every morning to stock up on ice and bait and these guys were amazing. We will definitely be retuning next year and visiting Monroe Canal - The Best!!!! Thank you guys for making our vacation so memorable 😊
This place and its employees were fantastic! So helpful, pleasant and nice location from which to boat. We rented fishing rods, bought bait and had a good bit of success, and the gentleman was nice enough to scale and filet the one fish we kept. It cooked up great! Great experience! Well be back!

2022-03-24We had a great time exploring the waterways and islands at the south end of Pine Island by kayak, thanks to the folks at Monroe Canal Marina. My wife and I took out a tandem kayak which worked flawlessly and got first-rate recommendations of places to explore on our paddle. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable.

2021-10-30We had a fantastic day out on the water and appreciated Rachel and Isaiah being so helpful. From booking online and showing up to rent our boat for the day, it was an easy experience with such friendly staff. Thank you for the recommendations on where to take the boat out, lunch spots and where to hang out in St. James City with great pricing on boat rentals!- Matthew, Giorgio and Whitney

2022-03-04Oh my goodness! What can we say? We booked two boats on our vacation here and I screwed up both days. I can only assume it was the owner or manager who helped me straighten it out and she was super nice about it. THANK YOU! Nathan was over the top knowledgeable about where to look for fish and how to navigate the waters. We enjoyed our time on the boats immensely and will definitely be renting from you again in the future. THE Van Dootingh family.

2022-02-19We rented an 18’ boat, the last boat available, for 4 hours. We were lucky as we went in late the day before and we were able to get the boat for the next afternoon. Staff was friendly and the process was smooth. The boat was in good shape. We had 3 adults and a German Shepard. We would have rented a bigger boat if available, but this one was fine for motoring around for a few hours.

2021-12-17Rented a boat from this place. Paid $2200 for a weekly rental. Had a fishing package added which included a trolling motor and a power pole. The power pole never worked right. Would not go up and down as it should. The next day we used it we noticed the pile was not straight down. It was turned to the side. There was one bolt holding it on. We strapped it using rope. We came in and they gave us another boat while they looked at it. The trolling motor on the new boat was not charged. That was fun. They are also in no hurry to get you back on the water.Got the boat back minus the power pole. Used anchors the rest of the week. When it was time to check the boat in they said it was us that damaged the power pole. It was definitely not. All four of us are experienced fisherman and have all used power poles. They charged us $200 for the repair and labor for something that didn’t work from the start.Do not rent from these people. It will be a bad experience.

2022-03-24Rented a boat for the day. We choose this place because you could take the boat to Cayo Costa. They had the best boundaries. Not only was everyone friendly and accommodating but Nathan went above and beyond! Nathan was incredible! He made sure we felt comfortable and knew everything before leaving the dock. He even suggested some great spots to stop at. Highly recommend! See you soon… We will be back!
