Being from up north, we wanted a boating experience while on vacation but had no idea where to begin. United Captain Services LLC was recommended by a friend and Captain Josh did not disappoint. He was super friendly and knowledgeable about the boat, always with safety in mind. It was obvious from the start that he had extensive experience and knew the area well. We were able to relax and enjoy the ride. We saw some beautiful remote places we never would have found on our own. It was an overall great experience and I will definitely recommend him to friends and family.
Just had my first session this morning - maneuvering in confined spaces and docking. Definitely time well spent. Josh is an excellent teacher and I cant believe how much I learned. Just having the process explained, demonstrated then being coached through it has probably saved me hours of trial and error not to mention potential mishaps. Highly recommended and I cant wait for my next session in navigation. Two thumbs up!

Josh is a great person to deal with. Especially that his communication skills are excellent, which is not always the case in Florida. We just moved to Cape Coral and like many others we decided to buy BOAT!! Although we had driven a rental boat occasionally on a family vacation, it is nothing like owning it!! Captain Josh came with a high recommendation that he would teach us how to be boat owners right at our dock. I can’t even begin to tell you the stuff he covered. The relationship is only beginning. We are going out next week to learn the water ways. We will also be using him to take care of our boat when we are gone. Just give him two hours and you will want more when you realize what you didn’t know!!!!
Josh is a great captain, with safety first attitude. Our family of four had a great day out on the water, Josh gave us a tour of the surrounding waters, tips on anchorage and lots of local knowledge. We are grateful to have been referred to United Captain Services by Blue Coral Boat Detailing. We bought a boat and knew very little. Josh has been working with us/helping us for about 7 months. We love having him be the Captain when we have grandkids or friends on the boat. He taught a 50+ lady how to do a 180 degree turn on point, go through the lock and get a compliment from the gas guy at Rumrunners on her skills 🌞. He has been fantastic helping us learn the operation and maintenance, which we had no clue. He helped someone off the boat at Picnic Island , who needs a cane, the whole group was shocked, that was above and beyond. He’s a nice, conscientious person who has a good network of reliable people, which is very rare these days. We are happy to have Josh as a friend and highly recommend United Captain Services
We hired Captain Josh for 8 hours to instruct us on how to operate our new boat. This included going through all the insturments, and hi-tech equipment on the boat. Maintenance and how to care for our new boat. Driving the boat and navigating on the water instruction included being able to turn around in tight channels, docking and tons of saftey issues. You wouldnt believe how many other boaters we watched missing the channels markers!Best money we ever spent on our new toy was hiring Captain Josh.Josh is super knowledgable and excellant teacher.
Captian Josh made the entire boating experience absolutely delightful! He patiently taught me and my wife the basics of boating while making it fun a interactive for the rest of the family as well! The tour covered not only the boating training but also dolphins, restaurants, fueling stations, light tower, and beaching places we could enjoy. All places shown were to our families needs which made it more valuable! I strongly recommend taking the opportunity to work with Captain Josh because he will not disappoint!

I hired Josh to give me a 101 that I never really had 40 years ago when I started boating. I have driven a lot of boats, sizes, and in areas- but none in this area... It was the best day I could have spent insuring that my future operations of our boat with my family -will be safe and fun! He also helped me receive the boat at MMAx and drive it to our home; the clean up and prep work he does to make the day run smoothly and his work during that trip is impressive. His knowledge of the area and tips on where to go and how things are done will be a time saver!
Captain Josh spent the afternoon with us and provided some of the best guidance weve had to date with all of the ins and outs of our boat. We recently purchased a 27 SeaRay and thought we could maneuver the waterways on our own. That was a huge mistake. Just spending 3 hours with Capt Josh, we are much more comfortable with the start up procedures in order to maintain and operate the boat on the waterways. He helped to ensure our boat met all safety requirements and he made recommendations to ensure our safety and the boats security on the lift/dock. We discovered there is so much more to boating than to merely putting a boat in gear and going. We cant wait for our next lesson on the water!

Superb Interactive Boat Instruction Lesson.I just recently had the pleasure of taking a boat training with Captain Josh from Untied Captain Services, LLC. It allowed me to learn proper docking skills, steerage techniques, boat safety, and general knowledge required with my boat. It was a rewarding training because it allowed me to better handle the fast river currents and changing winds when navigating through the rivers and canals of southwest Florida, which is very different from boating on Long Island, NY. I would say a training with Captain Josh is a must do for anyone new to boating or new to the area.Capt. Josh is a seasoned and very experienced boat captain with a wealth of boating knowledge. He has excellent interpersonal communication skills and patience that helped me absorb the training and establish mindset of confidence with handling my boat.P. Martinez

Captain Josh captained our new boat with my teenage son and I. I couldn’t speak higher to his professionalism, courtesy and customer service.He was recommended by our marina. He went over and above when he called me ahead of time to find out the type of boat I had and all the particulars about it. He then went online and found out the specific specs and boat idiosyncrasies to be fully prepared.He visited and inspected the boat a day ahead of time to do a safety check and give me some specifics about what I needed and anything he could do for us.He purchased some new emergency flares to replace my out of date flares.From the beginning, he catered to our wants and needs. He showed us all about our new boat, showed us how everything works and gave us safety tips.He listened to what we wanted and what we liked and set up a day for us to really get to enjoy and experience our new boat along with local beaches, waterways and a great local inn only accessible by boat.I will definitely use Josh again on my next trip to the area.
Captain Josh is a valuable resource for a laundry list of boating needs. Had a 4 hour lesson with Josh. Very good teacher. Knowledgeable and patient with us not so experienced boaters. Plan on doing further training. Using Josh to Captain my boat when I have family visiting so I don’t have to worry about anything. Highly recommend.

Josh is a great guy, very intelligent about everything boating. Ive been a boater for many years but am not a mechanical guy but show me once and I got it. When we went thru checking all the equipment I learned something about everything. 2022-08-27Absolutely the best experience you can have. Knowledgeable and fun. We had an amazing time. There was so much to learn. He is very Into saving the ocean too. We saved the turtles by taking trash away if we saw it. He helps educate people on how to use a boat or even just allow you to relax and he will drive. His destinations are key and only available by boat. Will never go with anyone else!

2021-12-11I contacted Capt. Josh to help me move my new to me boat from Marco Island to my dock in Cape Coral. I am new to the area and am not familiar with the skinny waters of the Gulf. I have been running boats in the northeast Atlantic and San Diego for over 50 years. He showed up right on time and we drove down to Marco with my wife and son. Josh was very engaging with us and after a few minutes seemed like we had known each other for years. At the boat, we did a safety check and found some items lacking. He spoke in length with the previous owner about the idiosyncrasies of the boat. We took off from the marina with me at the helm. Capt Josh had done a lot of chart work the night before and had a course set for us. As we approached the inlet, we realized that there was heavy fog. Had I been by myself I would have turned the boat around and waited for clear skies. Capt Josh assured me that we could continue on the trip safely. I had so much confidence in his skills and knowledge that I agreed to go. During the entire trip, Josh was offering great advice about navigation, boat operation and sea conditions. He explained everything in a clear, concise, friendly and profession manner. He shared the story of how he started the business and even offered to help my son who is starting his own boat related business. At times during the trip we were down to 50 foot visibility. Josh squared away all our safety gear and made adjustments to my electronics. The weather cleared as we passed Fort Myers Beach. As we approached the ICW, Josh poured on the local knowledge of shoals, channel markers and points of interests. If I had attempted this voyage by my self, I am sure I would have run aground. Once inside, Josh offered more local knowledge of tackle shops, boat maintenance facilities and dockside restaurants. We picked up my wife and went on a short cruise to downtown Ft. Myers. My family agreed that this was one of the best days on the water. Boating with true boaters is a pleasure and Captain Josh is one of 2 best captains I have ever worked with. The other is a multiple major fishing tournament winner out of San Diego. I will call on Capt Josh again. I couldn’t give a higher recommendation for anyone I have ever met as I would for Josh. Oh yeah, later in the evening I received a lengthy e mail going over some maintenance tips along with boat supply shops in the area. If you have ANY boat operation concerns, want to know more about your boat and its electronics or just want to hire a captain to take you, your buddies or your family for a day cruising, I would call Captain Josh. Hurry folks, this guy is a star and his calendar will be filling up. I intended to hire a captain and wound up with a good friend.

2022-07-04I hired Josh from United Captain Services to help me better understand my boat and its capabilities. I bought the boat one year ago and have done some online and in class training but wanted to better understand my boat and my boats functions. Josh arrived on-time and walked me through the basics on my boat and made sure my safety equipment was correct and in good working conditions. We did some basic maneuvering and docking where he was able to raise my confidence on tight space docking. We then hit some open water where he helped me understand trimming my boat for a favorable ride and increase fuel performance. From start to finish Josh worked at my speed and knowledge and not once rushed me through any part of the training. He gave me numerous tips and tricks and also focused on boat care. Josh even helped me understand my Garmin unit and how to use it. Josh is very good at what he does and I made the right choice by reaching out to United Captain Services and talking to Josh.

2022-05-03A group of 6 friends hired Josh for a great day out on the water. We’ll, we never expected such a GREAT GREAT day. Josh was professional and accommodating to our wishes. He listened to what we were thinking for the day and came up with an itinerary. We stopped at a beautiful beach where Josh made sure we stayed hydrated 😆, and took care of everything. We saw dolphins and stopped at a cute bar for snacks. I would definitely hire Josh again and look forward to our next day out on the water !!! Thank you

2021-12-12My husband and I are completely new boaters and hired Captain Josh to teach us from the ground up about boating and our boat. Captain Josh took the time to go through the entire boat with us, explaining all of the systems, emphasizing safety first and foremost. With his help we feel much more confident when taking just ourselves or a group out boating. We highly recommend Captain Josh and will definitely be hiring him for more sessions!

2022-01-22Josh is amazing! When our WorldCat arrived, he worked with my husband and I to understand and use the technology as well as learn to navigate the shallow waters surrounding Ft Myers.While I grew up boating on lakes in midwest, learning to operate the dual engines has been a learning experience. My husband is not patient enough so every attempt ended in an argument. Josh has unlimited patience and has been a godsend! He has helped me understand how to best navigate, to get comfortable docking and overall be comfortable going out on the water.Our next planned excursion will include my mom and best friend (who has never boated.). He is going to work with them on helping to dock, anchor, and tie up so they feel comfortable when we go out on water alone.He has also moved our boat to and from marina while our dock and lift were being installed.We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND him to anyone with a boating need!

2022-05-22We used United Captain Services for a bachelorette party. Captain Josh was the best mix of professional, knowledgable, and fun. From making sure we understood the safety protocols, to ensuring our towels were ready for us when we got out of the water, to capturing the whole day in photos -- Josh was just THE BEST. I would highly, highly recommend him and we will definitely be using him again. Five stars!

Josh taught me numerous tips and tricks on the water going from docking skills to safety checks with my boat, advanced GPS knowledge, hidden, exclusive spots to hang out with the family, marker info and hidden entrances in between mangroves.
